Hi Everyone,

Hope all is well and ready for Father Christmas’s visit!

We finished our break up with an extremely busy weekend. Lots of fun and activity on both grounds – Friday and Saturday -and Sunday with Juniors.
Friday started off with our Div 2 ladies having a Derby on the top ground. A close game and lots of fun. Ethan’s GGCD team came out on top over Dip’s Dodgers team, 11 -10.

Going on at the same time on the main ground was our T-Ball games finishing the evening with a visit by Father Christmas! Lots of smiles there!
Each player was given a voucher for a sausage sizzle and fruit box. The night went on and on with ‘Thunder’ winning the Meat Tray raffle!
A late night of fun at the Club!

Saturday had our Div 1s playing a double header with Southern Districts. First game was at 3pm and the second at 5pm.
The Div 3 game started at 9:30am with the Div 2 following at 12Noon.

The top ground saw our Div 7 Blues playing from 10am and from 12:30pm our Div 4 teams played another Derby!
Another close game as Matt’s GGCD team won over Rick’s Dodgers 6 – 4. It all added to the fun day and late night at Dodger Town!

Sunday had Matt’s U11s, Dip’s 13/1s and Greg’s U15s all playing Port Adelaide teams from early morning. Matt’s U11s are still undefeated!
It was another fun day to finish off the weekend and to start the Christmas break! No more games, now, until next year 😊

All the SUNDAY Seniors will start together on Sunday, 10 January at Kensington. (The Div 1s follow this weekend with another Twilight Game on Tuesday, 12/1 at Glenelg)

Our WBL teams will resume on FRIDAY, 15 January. We will have two WBL games at Home on that date!

Save the dates!

ARMCHAIR UMPIRE – YOU MAKE THE CALL
Situation: Runner on first with the First Baseman playing in…The Batter smashes a HOT grounder toward first. The First Baseman dives for the ball…
He cannot come up with it, but he deflects it toward the second baseman…HOWEVER…the ball strikes the runner before it can be fielded.

The second baseman had a good chance of retiring the Batter-Runner. Who is OUT? (Answer below)

BINGO NIGHT – SATURDAY, 9 JANUARY 2021 (Save the Date!)
Another fun evening for the entire family! Lots of prizes and lots of games.
A huge success last year and looking for a bigger turn out this time.

Last year’s Master of Ceremonies, Mark Shotton (Our Chair) may be calling out the numbers again this year.
Come along for good time in the Summertime. More info later.

SAMMY D FOUNDATION WORKSHOP
Our Club will be hosting a Sammy D Foundation workshop for all junior players aged 12 and up plus their parents/caregivers in January 2021.

This is an invaluable education program from qualified consultants that is at no cost to our club or our members. Baseball SA has organised this for all 14 metropolitan clubs free of charge!
The outcomes are significant in improving culture, behaviour and gaining knowledge in bullying and violence prevention and positive role modelling.

The ‘Monkey See – Monkey Do’ program will feature attitudes toward bullying / violence and educating parents / club members about the impacts of inappropriate sideline behaviours.
The 90 minute workshop will have player and parent break-out sessions. It will be held at our Club on Tuesday morning, January 12 from 10:30am to 12Noon.

More on this later, but save the date – TUESDAY morning, JANUARY 12.
We encourage ALL juniors aged 12 and up to attend with their parents/caregivers.

ARMCHAIR UMPIRE – DID YOU MAKE THE RIGHT CALL?
Anytime the ball is deflected… no one shall be declared out unless intentional interference is ruled.
In this case, the ball is alive and in play…nobody is out.

TIP OF THE DAY – KNOW YOUR SIGNS!

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year…please 😊

Cheers,
Bob
