Hi Everyone,
Well, it’s finally here!
This weekend starts off the 2020-2021 season with many games to be played at our Home ground.
All the best to all teams for a great start.
Our Sunday Seniors are away at Gawler except for our Div 1 team which has BYE.
I’m sure the Div 1 players are biting at the bit to get on the diamond and show their stuff – next weekend!
Our Home ground will be busy this weekend as both days are full of games playing on both diamonds during all time slots!
Saturday sees five Senior teams playing Home and Sunday will have six of our seven Junior teams playing at home.
Lots of hot dogs to be sold too!
‘Saturday’s Seniors’ have teams playing at Home from
10am: Div 7 v ND on the Main diamond,
12:30pm: Matt’s Div 4 GGCD v Angers [Main diamond] & Steve’s Div 6 v ND [Top diamond] then, from
3pm: Rick’s Div 4 Dodgers v Glenelg [Main diamond] & Ash’s Div 5 team v West Torrens [top diamond].
Sunday’s six Junior Home games start off at
9am with Matt’s U11 Dodgers playing ET on the Main diamond and Shane/Michelle’s U11 GGCD team play ND on the top diamond. (We’re still looking for additional players for both of these teams). Then, at
11am Dipper’s 13/1s play Glenelg on the Main diamond and Jason’s 13/2 Dodgers play Sturt on the top ground. (Danun’s 13/2 GGCD team are away at Kensington).
1:30pm Gregg’s 15/2 GGCD team play Glenelg on the Main diamond and Bob’s U14s play Goodwood on the top diamond.
Good luck to them all for a fun day! Going to be a warm day too!
When playing at Home, all teams will be rostered to provide Canteen help on the day. Please let you Coach know that you are willing to put your hand up.
We’re still looking for a Canteen Worker or Workers to oversee these opening hours during the games. Speak to Anne, Canteen Mgr, and work something out.
REGISTRATIONS DUE NOW!
Registrations are to be done online at https://www.revolutionise.com.au/ggcd/registration/
If you’re having any issues ie your user name, Sharee, our Treasurer and Registrar will be at the clubrooms Thursday night from around 5pm -for the night.
All members must be registered and paid up including league fees to participate this weekend.
Coaches will be advised who can play.
For transferring players in progress, she will update you on the next steps for you.
If you have not yet asked to be transferred, time is running out to play this weekend.
CLUB UMPIRES NEEDED
This season, with our club having many more Home games due to our increase of the number of teams -and fewer League Umpires, we will need to supply Club umpires for these games.
Ron Murphy is our Club’s Umpire Coordinator again for this season. If you wish to umpire sometime during the season, please let Ron know.
It’s a tough job, so please make it easier and contact him if you are interested. We have a lot of Home games this weekend!
He can be reached on his mobile (0438 332 262) or email: roamm1992@gmail.com
SPONSORS WANTED!
Our club depends on sponsors especially at the beginning of our season when
there are equipment and operational start-up expenses to be met -and with very little cash flow.
It is a very important part of our Club’s viability and an investment in our future -and the community!
If you have a lead or need further information, please contact me (Bob) by email, PM or mobile.

Her email addy is vicky.west@bigpond.com Thanks, Vicki.
‘PITCH COUNTERS’ NEEDED FOR JUNIOR TEAMS
Junior pitchers are allocated a certain number of pitches per game/week to protect their arm.
To assist the Coach, each team needs a Pitch Counter – an easy task and most helpful to the Coach -and the pitcher.
While the scorekeeper keeps count in the scorebook, the Coach is able to present his pitcher with his performance – recorded on the available form that is completed by the Pitch Counter.
A good stating percentage is 50% strikes or more.
Please ask your coach to take on this task.
It’s playing a part in your son/daughter’s game! -a team thing.
DIAMOND CARE
A lot of hard work and effort has been done during the off season to get our grounds in Tip Top shape.
Thanks to Gavin Payne for his dedication -and love for this task. (I don’t know how else to describe it 😊)
Be sure to make sure the diamond is properly prepared for your game and after. A spray of water on the cut outs before the game makes them more friendly.
When raking or brooming the cut outs, be sure to move away from the edges.
Always forgotten is to place bins and milk crates (for recycling items) in the dugout areas.
Help out the coach to see that this is done – and emptied at the end of the game.
CLUB’s ‘GROUP FACEBOOK PAGE’ UPDATED
Our Club’s FB page has a new look!
It is now called, more appropriately, ‘GGCD Dodgers Members Group’.
When it was first initiated many years ago, it was a Social page, but today, it is much more than that.
All the latest up to date Club information can be found here (like the last-minute Scorer’s Clinic) as well as social events for the season.
Be sure to join if you haven’t done so already.
Also, each team has their own Group FB page, so ask your coach about it.
