Greeting and Salutations to all!
I trust this finds you all well and keeping up with the COVID-19 rules.
It’s been a long time since the season was abruptly ended and robbing us of our season ending Presentations. It was like a death with no closure.
Not to mention our U15/2 team not being able to play in a Grand Final. ☹ But, we have all survived the Pandemic – so far. Wash your hands often!
GGCD HEAD COACH SIGNED
Darren Roberts has signed on as our Club Coach and is taking on the role as our Div 1 Head Coach for the coming season.
He has come over from the Kensington Baseball Club where he was involved in 3 Premierships as a player and 3 Premierships as Assistant Coach.
He started playing at Central Districts Baseball Club for all his junior years and even coached their Div 1 team at age 20.
His Dad was one of the founders of Central Districts and had a great influence on him growing up.
As a player, he has represented Australia, played in the SA Claxton Shields and has been involved in coaching South Australia’s Junior State Teams. He has also been the Head Coach at East Torrens and Goodwood bringing years of Div 1 experience for our Club.
He is looking forward to the challenges ahead coming back ‘home’ to work with the Golden Grove Central Districts ‘Dodgers’.
Please make him feel welcome.

TROPHIES, PHOTOS AND MEDALLIONS – PICK UP DATE ANNOUNCED
Sorry for the delay in making these items available, but the Coronavirus has kept us pretty much in lockdown.
The Board has set a tentative date of Saturday, 20 June for the collection of all Trophies, Photos and Medallions for the 2019-20 season.
The Juniors will be in the late morning and Seniors in the early afternoon at this time.
Scheduled times will be posted soon after the next COVID-19 restrictions are lifted in June.

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SESSION
With Winter Baseball not being played this winter due to the virus, it presents us with a unique opportunity to prep our diamonds for the coming season.
We will be working on the diamonds’ cut-outs on Saturday, 27 June from 10am – weather permitting.
Please put this date in your diary IF you are available. Of course, we will be strictly adhering to the COVID restrictions of the day at that time.
On the Main Diamond, we will be levelling off the edges and laying down new turf to reduce the size of the base cut-outs.
This will reduce the amount of time spent maintaining the cut-outs for our players and ground crews.
The top diamonds cut-outs will be tidied up as the grass is growing into the dirt.
We hope to have a new power edger for use at this time. KEEP WASHING YOUR HANDS!

GGCD AGM – STILL ON HOLD
It was originally to be held on Thursday, 11 June 2020, but Coronavirus intervened. ☹
We are now looking at sometime in July / August for a ‘face to face’ meeting. It will depend on the virus restrictions in place at the time.

GGCD JUNIOR BASEBALL ACADEMY – STILL LEFT ON THE AGENDA
We are still hoping to hold our preseason Junior Academy of some sort, but the COVID restrictions are still having our hands tied.
At this time, if we can find the resources, we are possibly looking at late July or August.
If you want to be involved with the coaching, please let me know.
We are all looking forward to get out and have a go, but this silent and deadly killer is keeping us at bay. Wash your hands often!
In the meantime, please grab your mitt and a ball and have a throw!
Isolation may be boring, but its keeping us safe.
