Hi Everyone,
I hope this finds you all well and ready to PLAY BALL!
The restrictions have been lifted on Community Sport as of 1 December, but with some new conditions in addition to the current COVID safe protocols.
It is, now, recommended to use the ‘mySA GOV’ app as the QR code scanner to use when visiting all businesses and sporting grounds like ours.
We have posted our QR code all around the grounds for all to scan when visiting our grounds. Be sure to use it for contact tracing in case its needed. Many thanks.
SUNDAY SENIORS AT HOME
Come out Sunday and support our Div 1, 2 & 3 teams as they take on Sturt in Round 9. This is the sixth game of the season due to the covid shut down.
While the seniors play on the main diamond, three of our Junior teams will be playing on the top ground: LL Div 1 (Dipper), LL GGCD (Danun) and Junior League (Greg) teams.
Our Saturday home games are Div 7 Red and Div 4 v Angels. A full weekend of games.
Our Head Groundsman, Gavin Payne, has been hard at work maintaining the grounds during this covid time. Be sure to thank him.

Helena has received uniform tops for Andy Brown, Tyler Green, Jamie Rix and Stuart Matthews. Woo Hoo!

GROUNDS’ NOTES
Don’t forget to use the new watering points for the diamonds cutouts – before and after the games.
Both are located near the visitors’ dugouts on both diamonds.
A new QC (Quick Connect) is fitted to the end of the hose on the hose reels.
The water is automatically turned on when they are inserted.
They will give us double the flow rate using recycled water!
Much better than using Mains water as before.
GGCD WEBSITE – NEW LOOK
Our website www.ggcdbaseball.com.au <www.ggcdbaseball.com.au> has a new look! Dave Coleman, our ex-Div 3 coach and player, operates a web page design business and is giving us a new image.
It’s still, somewhat, under construction, but is giving us the opportunity to update our information quicker and easier. Have a look. Thanks, Dave.
CHARTER BASEBALL – Tryouts announced
Tryout dates have been set for Little League and Junior League players. All our junior players are encouraged to tryout. There are three tryout dates.
Our district Charter teams, the ‘Marlins’, will be playing against the Western ‘Rays’ and Southern ‘Seahawks’ to represent SA in the National League tournaments.
Our state championships are usually held in January with the Nationals usually played in April.
To be eligible, a player must:
* have a date of birth between the dates listed below.
* be currently playing in the SABL competition.
* play in 60% of the scheduled games in the age group that the player in trialling for.
* try out for the Charter team that the player’s current club team is a member of.
* Little League age eligibility – born between 01/09/2008 – 31/08/2012 * Junior League age eligibility – born between 01/09/2006 – 31/08/2008

THURSDAY NIGHT MEALS
Club Night is B-A-A-A-CK! Trainings, Selections and a Meal.
Our Div 7 Blue team (Gary Martin’s team) will be providing Chicken Wraps for your pleasure.
Also, the 50 Club draw will take place at 8PM.

While searching for one thing, I came across another interesting note.

BUNNINGS BBQ: 12/12
Our next Modbury Bunnings BBQ is for Saturday, 12 December 2020.
Thanks to all who volunteered for last Sunday’s BBQ. A good day.
Be sure to let Mia know via PM if you are available to assist on the 12th. We need FIVE volunteers for each shift.
Shifts are 8:30am-11:30am, 11:30am-2pm and 2pm until 4:30pm (Close).
And remember, fully enclosed shoes are to be worn.
FUNCTIONS AND EVENTS
Our Social Functions and events are being looked at to be re-scheduled due to the current covid restrictions.
When we know of crowd restrictions being lifted, we will post the news. Numbers for gatherings are too limited at the moment.
Our next event, Ladies Day may be held next year. ☹ Stay tuned.
Sandlot Baseball on Saturdays is cancelled until next year.
