Hi Everyone,
Thanks to all our volunteers who participated in the Bunnings BBQ last Saturday.
It was a great fundraiser to start the season off and running.
Our preseason training got off to a good start last weekend – a great turn out.
The weather cooperated too! It was good to see everyone again and to welcome our new players.
DIV 1 NEWS
Our Div 1 squad will be playing a trial game -moving players in and out- on Sunday at home versus East Torrens.
The ‘try out’ game will start at 11am on our main diamond. Watch AJ throw his 93mph fastball! 😊
The canteen will be open and a special treat will be served from midday.
Anne (our Canteen Manager) will be providing a ROAST LAMB and Gravy roll!
So, if you’re hungry, stop by for lunch.
CANTEEN WORKER/S WANTED
We are looking for a person or persons willing to work the canteen during our home games.
If you have worked in hospitality or done work in a school canteen, this is for you.
If you can commit to helping somewhat this season, please let Anne know to work out what works best for you.

REGISTRATIONS OPEN
Once again, players are required to use the Baseball Australia online registration portal to pay registration fees this season.

NEW players to our club MUST renew with their old club and choose TRANSFER REQUESTED (zero dollars) as the payment class, so that the league can ensure 3 parties approve the change.

ARMCHAIR UMPIRE – YOU MAKE THE CALL
Situation: The runner on first base takes off for second on the pitch. The batter swings at the pitch and misses…and the pitch hits him.
WHAT IS THE RULING? (Answer below)
PRE-SEASON TRAINING – SUNDAY START TIMES – (this weekend onwards)
Seniors 1,2,3– from 11AM Trial game v ET. Main Diamond
U17s – No training this Sunday, but Wednesday 4:30pm.
U13s – 10:30am until 12 Noon. Top Diamond
Wednesdays from 5pm – Top Diamond
Women – 12 Noon until 2pm Top Diamond
Seniors Div 4–7 from 2pm until 4pm. Top Diamond
Div 4 & 5 Thursday from 5pm
U14s/15s – 3:30pm until 5pm. Top Diamond
U11s – 3pm until 4:30pm SATURDAY Top diamond
Weekday trainings will start next week for most teams. Check with your coach.
SENIOR COACHES ANNOUNCED
We have nominated eight senior teams this season! We have two Div 4 teams this season.
Matt Burns will coach one team and Rick Leonard will coach the other team.
Ash White (The Ashman) along with Pete Renfrey will coach the Div 5 side.
Steve Conry will once again coach the Div 6 team and Gary Martin will coach the Div 7 Red team. The Div 7 Blue team is TBA.
*DIAMONDS* UPGRADED
Back in July, action started with the season preparation of both grounds.
With no winter baseball being played on the grounds, it gave us this unique opportunity to totally refurbish both diamonds.
Cut outs were reshaped, re-aligned and resized.
The pitchers will find that the mounds have taken on the measurements of MLB – enjoy!
The new turf is taking hold as the weather warms up and work is continuing to improve our playing surface.
The top diamond cut outs are now regulation size, but still need topping up (HELP!).
Gavin, our hard working Groundsman and Director of Equipment, House and Grounds, has been working tirelessly getting our grounds up to scratch for the season.
He needs your help to finish the job. (If you play on it, work on it!)
So, even if you can only spare an hour or two, please give him a call on 0412 190 806.
He’s usually there in the late afternoon or Saturday mornings. He will be very happy to see you!

BSA SENIOR STRUCTURE AND FIXTURES
The league office has officially released the structure of all Senior teams Div 4 to Div 7 plus the Women’s League, along with the Don Rice League. (See below)
It is still early, but these are the Senior teams that the clubs nominated last week. (Subject to change)
As per the Local Playing Rules & Conditions, finals will all be top six except for Div 7 Blue and all Women’s League Divisions which will be top 4.

Additional GREEN SHIRT UMPIRE CLINIC
Saturday, 26 September, 10am at GGCD
Thanks to those who came out last Saturday for the ‘practical’ part of the Community Umpire Accreditation Program.
It was good to see so many attend this 90 minute session.
This season, the Baseball League has asked each club to have at least 10 x accredited Club, baseball umpires.
The attendees on Saturday have started us on our way to achieving this goal.
To become accredited, just enrol and complete the online course by clicking on this link https://form.jotform.co/83568432579875
You will, then, receive an email to start your accreditation online by completing a quiz.
Then, when you complete the 90 minute practical session on the 26th, you will be accredited.
Take the time, it’s that simple.
We pay our Club umpires $20/game and are given a cold beverage at the end of the game.
Ron Murphy is our Club’s Umpire Coordinator. Let him know if you are interested to umpire our club games.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
You will not be assigned any games only those you may want to umpire when you’re available.

Grey playing pants, blue socks, belts, batting gloves and mitts can be purchased from the Intersport store at the Ingle Farm Shopping Centre.
