Hi Everyone,

The Summer baseball season is winding down for us.
Last weekend’s games didn’t go our way but we as a Club are proud of all of them to make it this far in the playoffs.
It’s not every team that gets to play in the finals series, so players must be proud to be a part of it and representing our Club.

Our Div 4 (Matt’s) team will play Glenelg in a semi-final at Glenelg on Saturday from 3pm. Its not over yet!
The league deemed it abandoned last week due to the early rain giving the highest ranked team going to the GF,
but – after some reconsideration by the league – the semi-final will be played this coming weekend.
Go Dodgers!

Our WBL Div 2 GGCD (Ethan’s) team played their Grand Final last Friday at Kensington and lost 6-3 due to lack of daylight – the score was then reverted to the previous inning.
It was the top of the fifth inning in this seven inning game, when we were at bat with two outs and go-ahead runners on base – and then, the game was called! Bummer.

The number of GGCD supporters were fantastic on this beautiful warm evening!
We outnumbered the home team fans by far -lining up all along the first base line.
Thank you all for coming out to support to our ladies!

Danun’s 13/2 GGCD team made it to their second round but went down to the undefeated Northern Districts team 16-2.
They knew it was going to be a tough day, but the players gave it 100% and never gave up.

Shane and Michelle’s U11 GGCD team made a valiant effort in their semi-final game away against the top team, Port Adelaide, and went down 0-5.
It was said the umpire denied Olivia George a clear HR, but they kept on giving their all-in spite of it.
On ya, kids!

Matt’s U11 Dodgers team’s semi-final was played at home against Henley & Grange.
It was a close game all the way but went down by one run, 7-8.

It was a killer finish as the bases were loaded with two outs and big hitter, Ashton at the plate.
Unfortunately, he hit a line drive to the right fielder who took it cleanly and threw him out at first. Tears all around.

In spite of it all, they played like a champion team – lots of hits with good pitching, but in the end, that’s baseball.
We’re very proud of this team of youngsters – as we are with all our players – looking forward to lots of wins ahead of them.

ARMCHAIR UMPIRE – YOU MAKE THE CALL
Situation: The offensive team accidently sends out the wrong batter. A pitch is thrown to this improper hitter.
At that point, the offensive coach realizes the mistake and sends the proper batter to the plate.
Do you call the improper batter out, the proper batter out or do you allow this switch? (Answer below)
