Hi Everyone,
Our Div 1 team played Henley and Grange at last night’s Home Twilight game.
They went down 5-1, but not a bad effort against the #2 team! Well done, fellas.
This Sunday, they play away with a double header v Port Adelaide. Game times are at 2:30pm and 5pm.
Come along and cheer on the Home team! Only a couple more games left of baseball!

BUNNINGS BBQ: HELP!

This is another fun opportunity to get involved with our Club members off the field!
We will need five volunteers per shift – a big ask, but hoping we can get just a few more from our 250 player database! Why not you?
The morning shift has been filled, but we need more volunteers for midday and afternoon shifts.
11am -2pm (Lunch)- ONLY TWO VOLUNTEERS AT THIS TIME
2pm – 5pm (Close) – NO ONE HAS VOLUNTEERED AT THIS TIME! ☹

Police have been checking sporting venues and have fined members $1000 each for not ‘checking in’!

JUNIOR/SENIOR TRAINING NIGHT – POSTPONED…AGAIN!
Due to the forecast of another HOT Thursday, our Jr/Sr Training night has been postponed until next week – Thursday, 25/2 from 6PM.
DR, our Club’s Senior Coach, is looking forward to next week to provide a night for our Juniors to train with our Div 1, 2 & 3 players.
TTG SAPSASA SOFT BALL CARNIVAL – CANCELLED!
Due to the forecast temperature of a HOT 37C for Friday, the Softball Carnival has been postponed until further notice. ☹
It is a disappointment for nearly 300 players signed up to play on the day, not to mention the organisers!
Thank you to all that had intended on helping us out on the day.
I will keep everyone posted if and when it may be held.
VOTE YOUR CHOICE FOR SPECIAL CLUB PERSONS
At our Presentations, we will present these Special Awards to our members.
CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR –
The purpose of this award is to recognise an outstanding club member/s who has gone above and beyond the normal call of duty,
has shown dedication and commitment, and made a significant contribution to the club during the 2020/21 season
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER (MVP) –
A player that has added great value to their team by consistently producing a high standard of batting and fielding across the season.
The MVP demonstrates an excellent attitude at training and games, shows great sportsmanship, never gives up and is always striving to do their best.
The MVP is encouraging of team mates and peers and always represents themselves, the team and the Club in a positive manner.
DEDICATED JUNIOR –
Must be under 16 years old. A player that has consistently worked hard / applied themselves to their team and individual training sessions and as a result has achieved considerable success.
The individual is willing to learn, has listened to coach’s feedback and worked hard to improve their game and skills.
They have made an impact in the team with their skills, but also demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and good conduct towards opposition, teammates, coaching staff and umpires.

No paper ballots will be offered this season – only those submitted by email and approved by the Board.
WINTER BASEBALL IS COMING
Get your teams in order! The first game is Saturday, 1 May 2021!
Contact Roger Prime, ‘The Commissioner’ of the ‘Surrey Downs Winter Baseball Club’, to nominate your team.

All games are at Illyarrie Reserve on Saturdays with no games on the June 12 weekend. Approximately a 14 game season.
It is proposed that Umpires will be paid $50 per game and paid before the game by the opposing teams at $25 each.
If you don’t have a team, Roger will put you in touch with a team needing players.
Teams must be nominated by Saturday, 10 April to get in this fun and casual competition.
