Hi Everyone,

We hope you are all well and enjoying the summer holidays.

Not much to report about this week. We’re all still kinda on Summer holiday time – me included.

Gavin Payne, our Head Groundsman, continues to groom our grounds keeping them in fine playing condition and our Div 1s are, now, playing twice a week – Weekends and Weekday Twilights.
Last Sunday, we had a win against Kensington (Woo Hoo!) but faltered on Tuesday against Glenelg, but a good effort all around though.

This weekend, our Sunday Seniors play at Home against East Torrens. The day looks good – sunny and 25C for an enjoyable day at the ballpark from 10am.
Next week, the Div 1s play a Twilight game at Home on Tuesday, 19 January, against Goodwood. Looks to be a relaxing and balmy evening for some baseball at the Dodger’s Ballpark.

This Friday, 15 January, our three WBL teams start their first games back. We have TWO WBL Home games – one on each diamond (no T-Ball being played as yet using the main diamond area).
Our WBL Div 2 Dipper’s Dodgers team play Glenelg and our WBL Div 2 Ethan’s GGCD team play Gawler. Both are from 6pm. A busy evening to start the weekend at Dodger Town.

Of course, our Saturday Seniors will be playing in full force on Saturday. We have three Home games on Saturday: Stuarts Div 7 Reds, Steve’s Div 6 and Rick’s Div 4.
All of our other six Senior teams will be playing away. Tess will be posting the games times and locations on our FB page. Check it out.

BINGO NIGHT was another fun, family night at the club. The weather was perfect – a warm and balmy evening.
Our Chair, Mark Shotton, did a superb job of calling the numbers and keeping us all entertained thru the night.

Thanks to Mia for organising the night and the Shotton clan for supporting the night (they came out in hoards 😊).
Although, some of us ‘others’ did manage to get some wins 😊 A fun time.

The SAMMY D FOUNDATION came out on Tuesday morning to present their ‘Monkey See, Monkey Do’ program for our Juniors.
They talked about bullying and violence in sport and how to recognise it and prevent it.

Unfortunately, it was not well attended, but we appreciated those that did come out. It was a very worthwhile and professional presentation.
If you should get the opportunity to attend one of these, I strongly recommend it – for players 12 and up and parents/caregivers. Basically for teenagers, but younger players can relate.

They also talked about why kids drop out of sport and how they mimic what they see – Monkey See, Monkey Do.
We want to show our kids good sportsmanship and respect for others – Coaches, Umpires, Committee members and the like.

Kids will mimic what they see and hear. Keep it friendly and positive – we’re all volunteers.

That’s Neil in the back whose young, footy son was killed by a bully who crashed a BDay party! He started this foundation with his wife to alert us of the dangers out there.
He did a superb job! Just being a dad who lost his son and alerting us all to those bullying actions that can ruin lives and also, promoting good sportsmanship/mateship.

Maybe next time, if we get the chance, we will hold it from 5:30pm – same time as our training times. It will be worth attending!
The glow in the dark, wrist-band-give-away was cool too 😊

CLUB NIGHT – THURSDAY is on again.
Our girls Div 3 team is doing the cooking! They will be providing Chicken Wraps and Chips for $5.
A simple meal with lots to fill the appetite. Come along for a feed and a yarn. 😊

Our 50 Club is now up and running. Get your winning number at the bar tonight.
It’s been a very popular repeat with over half of the numbers already taken.

Win or lose, the final night of the draw is worth the $50 alone in entertainment…and more. 😊 What a hoot!

There will be 10 draws with $50 winners culminating the final draw being a reverse draw.
The grand prize winner gets $700 with runners up getting $300 and $100. A super fun night.

Oops! I forgot to mention that on that final night, all number holders get free drinks – till we run out. Plus, other prizes on the night. 😊
Grab a number to get involved for this Club Fundraiser. Win or lose, you and our Club is a winner. Thanks for your support.

SMILE FOR THE WEEK
If you have often wondered where our minute steaks come from…

Have a good week.
