Dear members,
This past weekend we hosted two grand finals at our grounds for our State League Division 8 and Little League Division 1 sides. Both of these resulted in premierships, and we are so proud of all of these Dodgers legends!
State League Division 8 had a walk-off mercy with a hit by Greg Rodgers to get the game-ending run across the plate. Stuart Matthews, again, pitched a performance worthy of a Grand Final.
Our Little League Legends showed their determination and ability to keep their heads up and work as a team, coming from 5-1 down in the 3rd, to win the game by 5 runs. With some amazing batting, fielding and pitching on show, the future of the Dodgers looks bright!
Our Minor League GGCD side played away, going down to the top side Kensington. While the result may not be what they would have hoped for, the club is so proud of how far they have come this season. To make it to a Grand Final is a feat of its own. Well done Minor League legends, coming back and scoring 3 runs in the final inning, showing why you guys were there!
This upcoming weekend brings our Senior and Junior Presentation nights, they’ll be great nights to celebrate the season amongst your team-mates and friends on what has been a great season for our club. We look forward to seeing you there.

The 2023 Capps Medal Presentation Night was a successful night for our club this season. Feedback from those in attendance enjoyed the indoor venue, and congratulating our club winners was the highlight of the night.

The 2022-23 BaseballSA Junior Presentation Ceremony is being held at West Beach this Friday night, 31 March. We congratulate the following Junior Dodgers in placing in the top 5 of their respective divisions

GGCD SENIOR PRESENTATION NIGHT
We look forward to seeing all our senior players and officials tomorrow night, Friday 31 March at the Modbury Hotel for a sold out event!
Arrive at 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start, neat, semi-formal attire.
Teams will be seated together on an allocated table, so please look for your Division number on the tables.
Dietary requirements have been advised and tables will only be serviced in the main dining room area.
There will be a raffle drawn at the end of the night, so bring along some spare change, tickets will be available for $2 each or 3 for $5.
GGCD JUNIOR PRESENTATION NIGHT
This Saturday, 1 April for a 6:15pm arrival time we will be hosting our 2023 Junior Presentation Night.
Waterworld has once again been selected as a destination due to the feedback and popularity of previous years.
Please arrive on time, your coaches will inform you of your designated time slot where you will go into the presentation hall to recap on your season and be presented with your awards.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
JUNIOR FAMILIES SURVEY
The club will be sending a short survey to all our junior families this week, please take the time to have a read and respond.
Feedback is valuable to the club and it will be taken on board. The survey is strictly confidential and will be completed via google forms.
EQUIPMENT RETURN
Our Director of Equipment, House and Grounds Gavin Payne is requesting that all equipment is returned by players and coaches as soon as possible.
Please place it into your team’s locker or in the green sheed, this all needs to be audited by the club shortly and evaluated for next season’s requirements.
WINTER BASEBALL IS AROUND THE CORNER
This season, the Surrey Downs Winter Baseball Club (SDWBC) will have their opening games on Saturday, 6 May.
Roger Prime, the Commissioner, is looking forward to another fun season at Illyarrie Reserve.
Bob and Roger tell me that they have hit the ground capacity of teams this year, with 12 teams being nominated (a record), meaning all 3 time slots will have 2 games each weekend. It will be a busy winter at Illyarrie!
Games will be played on Saturdays, except for the June Long weekend for approximately 14 rounds with playoffs finishing in early September.
Founded in 1996, this will be the 27th year providing fun for our baseball community, this casual competition is focused on teams with family, friends and mates playing with one another.
White it is early, teams are still looking for players – little or no experience is necessary.
If you are looking for a team to join, please let Roger Prime know at roger.prime@bigpond.com and he will find a place for you. If you are available to umpire, the going rate is $50 per game, so if this suits you please let Roger know.
