We are well and truly into pre-season now. Weeknight training will commence for more teams in the coming weeks with Daylight Savings Time coming into effect this coming weekend to start giving us more light. This will be communicated through coaches and upcoming newsletters.
We have had set-backs mainly due to inclement weather that have made most parts of our grounds unplayable, and in turn required significant extra attention by Gavin Payne and volunteer helpers to get the grounds into the shape they need to be for the upcoming season.
Our season commencement dates are over the next several weeks at the below dates:
State League Divisions: Saturday, 8 October
Juniors Under 11 to Under 17: Sunday, 16 October
Women’s League Division 2-3: Friday, 28 October
Season Launch and Home Run Derby
On Sunday, 25 September, the club held our annual pre-season event, many thanks go to our Director of Fundraising and Events, Liv Trembath, for organising another fun Home Run Derby at the home of the Dodgers. The weather also did its part and held off for the majority of the day to allow the whole event to proceed.

Senior Player Auction
The Division 1 Squad Player Auction is scheduled for next Friday, 7 October at the club rooms.
Stay tuned on Facebook for further announcements around this, the more people involved the more successful the night is.
The Senior Player Auction has been held annually for a number of years now, and raises funds for Best on Ground vouchers for the player and the buyer for home games throughout the season.
Our Junior coaching staff have been busy finalising team lists for the upcoming season. Each family will receive confirmation this week of the selection of their son or daughter into relevant divisions. All information will be outlined in the letters, including team mates, coaches, and other relevant information for the season.
Pre-season Training Updates
This Thursday, 29 September, the Senior Divisions 5-8 will start training Thursday night from 5pm, light permitting on when it will finish. Next week coming into Daylight Savings this should provide more opportunity for time constraints.
Division 1-3 have already been training weeknights and there is no change in their schedule, Darren Roberts will communicate any relevant changes directly.
Juniors and Senior Women’s are looking to start training weeknights following Daylight Savings, the finalised schedule is going through final changes with coaches and the club’s committee to ensure fairness and adequate use of space. This will be disrupted to everyone in the coming days. We have a packed ground this year, and every night we will see both diamonds and batting cages being used by one of our Junior or Senior teams. It looks to be a lively year at GGCD this season.

Come and Try T-Ball with the Dodgers
It’s nearly that time of the year! We will once again be hosting our program for Under 8s and Under 10s to get involved in T-Ball. T-Ball is a great introduction for bat and ball sports, and many of our club’s players started out in our T-Ball program or its predecessors.
Come and Try dates will be on 17 and 21 October from 6pm. Tell your family and friends and spread the word!
