Hi Everyone!
Another Spring weather weekend coming up – cool and patchy rain forecasted. ☹
But we play on…
Our Div 1s, 2s and 3s are away at Southern Districts on Saturday.
Our Div 1s (8) play SD (3) and our Div 2s (4) play SD (2).
Alex Earle’s undefeated Div 3 team will take on their undefeated Div 3 team where
one will come away undefeated and the other next…
All of our other five Senior teams are playing at Home on Saturday!
Div 4s play H&G, Div 5s play ET, Div 6 and Div 7 play S.D while the Div 8s play Glenelg from 9am.
Ethan’s WL Div 2 team are at Home on Friday playing Glenelg on the top diamond
while our T-Ball games are playing on the Main Diamond.
(The tarps are out on the cut outs ready for any rain!)
Most of our Junior teams are away, but a few are at Home on Sunday starting with
Bianca’s U11s v Red Sox at 9am, followed by Jason’s 13/1s v Goodwood and finishing with Sam’s 15/1s v Goodwood.
Greg’s U17s will play a Home Twilight game v Glenelg on Wednesday from 1800.
Another busy Wednesday afternoon at the Home ground!
Go get ‘em Dodgers! Play your best and have FUN!
ARMCHAIR UMP – YOU MAKE THE CALL
When batter number 7 is at bat -and is batting out of turn- with the count of two balls and two strikes when
it is, then, discovered that he is batting out of turn.
Can batter six take his rightful turn and if so,
what count does he start with? Answer below…
JUNIOR/SENIOR TRAINING NIGHT –
All juniors are invited to train with the pros (our Div 1,2&3 Squad) on Thursday, 2 December from 6PM until 8PM!
Our Div 1 Coach, DR, will set up the various stations for all to pick up some tips and traits to help us play the game like a pro.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to train and meet our Div 1 squad players. Save the date!
HOME RUN FENCE BANNERS
MANY THANKS for our Saturday Seniors who put up our Sponsor’s banners on the Home Run fence every time our Div 1s play at Home…
and take them down at the end of the day!
The banners are part of our obligation to our Sponsors who have paid us thousands upon thousands of dollars enabling us to keep our fees down and to be financially stress free.
We haven’t had to raise our fees for three seasons thanks to our Sponsors contributions! Unlike petrol prices, etc…
So, while it seems like a chore to put the banners up and down each time, your efforts are much appreciated.
And the Sponsorship Coordinator who knocks on the sponsors doors, appreciates it too! 😊
‘IRON MIKE’ BATTING TUNNEL NET UPGRADED
The impact net in the ‘Iron Mike’ tunnel will be upgraded this week.
The original netting is perishing with the UV, weather and impacts of the batted baseballs.
Also, the holes in the cyclone fencing will be ‘laced up’ to keep the balls in the tunnel and not in the veranda! 😊
In addition, the top diamond’s dugout door that was vandalised (fencing cut open), has been re-laced to ensure its integrity.
BTW – The hose reel with the 18mm hose that was stolen through this hole in the door has
been replaced and will soon be ready for use.
USING THE BATTING TUNNELS –
Our batting tunnels -especially the ‘Iron Mike’ pitching machine tunnel- is one of the best training tools at the Club!
And its FREE and available to use for all our members!
But with so many of our teams training during the weekday afternoons, time in the tunnels can be busy.
We appreciate the sharing seen amongst the teams training on the nights for all to get their fair share.
BUSY TRAINING NIGHTS –
With all our many teams wanting to train during the weeknights,
please be mindful of the other teams that may be batting nearby. Safety first!
We are fortunate to be able to use the Surrey Downs Primary School oval for training too, so if it suits,
please feel free to use it. (Our two U11 teams use it on our crowded Wednesday arvos!)
FYI – our Top diamond is not in use on Tuesdays if someone wants to use it.
GGCD’s ‘50 CLUB’ draws begin!

ARMCHAIR UMP – DID YOU MAKE THE RIGHT CALL?

with the same count that batter 7 accrued – two balls and two strikes.
