Hi Everyone,
We trust you are all safe and well while coping with the COVID-19 restrictions.
Below is some information regarding our Club’s off season activities – especially for our upcoming AGM.
DIV 1 NEWS
Our Sunday Seniors’ preseason training sessions are well underway and our Div 1 Coach, Darren Roberts, is pleased with the turnout – in spite of the on-going footy season!
At this time, they are busy working on their fitness and basic fundamentals. While they are presently training at our Club grounds on Sunday mornings, they are, also,
training indoors once a week at Mega Courts – making batters hit the ball harder. 😊
As our new coach, he is enjoying the enthusiasm being shown by all the players.
Keep up the good work, fellas!
BUSY BEE – SATURDAY, 22 AUGUST
From 10AM next Saturday, Gavin (our Head Groundsman) will be on site hoping for a good turn out to finish off the refurbishments to our diamonds.
Please don’t disappoint him as he has been putting in a huge effort.
Lots of shovels are needed to top up the dirt on the cut outs to get them ready for the season. The top diamond will need it the most with the enlargements done to regulation size cut outs.
The pitching mounds on both diamonds need to be finished off by underlaying the ‘stride’ with the green clay bricks from Austral Bricks. Come along ready to crush some bricks.
Gavin has been working on the visitor’s pitching mound, mowing the infields with the cylinder/roller mower and getting ready for next weekend, 22/8!
We all look forward to seeing a large turnout. – Gavin will too 😊. Hope you can make it!
AGM – THURSDAY, 20 AUGUST 2020
Our Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held this coming Thursday evening (20 August) from 7pm.

Please consider the following to join our Board.

This new program will be called ‘Little League Select’ and will be run in line with our charter and charter development programs.

They will play games prior to the Super League games when they start.
All games and trainings will be held at Diamond Sports at West Beach. Games will run for a 2-hour period and full charter rules will be in effect.
GGCD is part of the Marlins Charter District. and will run on Monday nights. The Marlins Little League Select team will be coached by Andrew Couzner (2020 LL charter coach).
CLUB UMPIRE TRAINING – ”GREEN SHIRT” Community Umpire Accreditation
This season, the Baseball League is requiring us to have a minimum of 10 x Accredited Umpires for Juniors up to Div 3.
While we have been very fortunate at our Club in procuring umpires for most of our HOME games – with thanks to our current members -,
we need to get them all accredited.
With thanks to Baseball SA, there is no cost to our members or Club. The accreditation can easily be achieved by doing an On-Line quiz and a
2.5 hour practical course that we will held at our Club (Date & time TBA).
Detailed information can be found on BSA’s website under the PROGRAMS tab.
A green shirt will be provided to all candidates completing the program.
We encourage all who are interested to come forward for this free, accreditation course – especially our Playing Life Members. Our club needs your help!
We will be calling for attendees in the near future. Thank you for your consideration.
BASEBALL ‘LEAGUE UMPIRE’ ACADEMY – “BLUE SHIRT” ASSOCIATION UMPIRE ACCREDITATION
Baseball in South Australia relies on a very small group of League umpires and with the vast number of games and grades increasing, umpiring needs help!
Baseball SA is seeking individuals wanting to step up and start a career as an Accredited League Umpire.
Full training and extensive support is available this year at NO COST to those interested in umpiring at this higher level.
The Baseball SA Umpire Academy program has been specifically designed to facilitate an accelerated learning process. It will take umpires from beginners to highly skilled professionals in only a few years.
The Academy is supported by Baseball SA and BUASA and will be launching in late August.
If you are interested or want more information please visit the Academy webpage or contact Neil Poulton, Umpire Development, directly on 0416 623 518.
