Hi Everyone,
What a great way to start our season! Great weather and a Div 1 win!
It was a big weekend at Dodger Town!
We kicked it off with our Player Auction on Friday night.
Players from our Div 1, 2 & 3 teams were auctioned off to the highest bidder.
The highest bidder for each player will receive a $25 MVP reward card along with the player getting one too, each time they play at Home.
It was a great turnout and lot$ of fun.
First Round MVP winners…
Jake Campbell Div 1 MVP Reed Brown Div 2 MVP Ben Strong Div 3 MVP
Saturday saw our Div 1s play Glenelg at Home with a 2-0 win and at the end of day, the beer fridge was empty!
Plenty of supporters showed up on this fine sunny day to cheer on the Home team
Thanks to our Life Member, Steve Conry, who manned the bar after the game – till help arrived.
A busy place to be! Thanks Steve (you looked right at home 😊) and Robbie Walsh too!
Never seen the beer fridge so empty!
Thanks to Glenelg Coach, Andrew Qualmann, and his players for staying behind to celebrate and enjoy the season opener!
Another great turnout…and late night!
Sunday was full of Junior games with wins and losses, but no draws 😊
Their first game jitters are now behind them.
ARMCHAIR UMPIRE: YOU MAKE THE CALL
Situation: Runners on first and second; the batter smashes a ground ball past a diving shortstop.
The ball hits the umpire who is positioned behind the infielder.
IS THE BALL DEAD OR ALIVE? PLACE THE RUNNERS…
THIS WEEKEND’S GAMES…
For the Seniors’ Saturday, its every GGCD Division playing Adelaide!
The Div 1,2,3 & 8s all play at Adelaide’s grounds in Plympton while the rest of our teams- Div 4,5,6 & 7- play at Home.
Another full day of games at Dodger Town. Stock up the beer fridge, Andy 😊
Our Junior’s games are spread across the League except for Danun’s LL2, Matt’s LL2 and Bob’s JL2 teams playing at Home.
Looks like another fine sunny day coming up for baseball.
T-BALL – COMING SOON…Tell your friends!
‘Come n Try’ sessions on Monday, 18 October and Friday, 22 October from 6-7pm at our grounds.
We will have four stations for both divisions – U8s and U10s. All on the Main Diamond.
Volunteers are needed to host each station: Throwing, Fielding, Hitting and Base Running.
If you are available to help for one hour, your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Just rock up a little before 6pm and Bob will be most happy to see you there! 😊
It’s a lot of fun showing our future players how to play baseball. Get involved.
Games start on 29 October 2021. (Same as WL 2 & 3 games)

TECHNIQUE PHOTO OF THE WEEK!
For all inspiring Pitchers – this is how you want to look to pitch well – from the ‘set’ position!
1. High Leg lift, eyes level and well balanced… 2. Glove tucked, back elbow up, big stride, foot plant with foot pointing to the batter 3. Body rotation with the follow thru on release – arm coming across the front of the body – showing the release of power with the high leg kick.
After you release your fast ball, how do you look?
Thanks to Jo Burns for capturing these action photos of Johnny Inglis striking out the Glenelg batter for strike three!
Working hard gets the job done! Great technique, John! Great photos too, Jo!
