Hi Everyone,
It was a great Home Twilight game last night v Adelaide with our Div 1 team taking the win 4-2!
Once again Jake Campbell hit a home run to start us off 😊 and AJ threw to Jake Shotton for the seven innings game using 103 pitches.
Other hits were to Branden Manzella, Ethan Murphy, Blake Farr (DH), and Tom Walsh. Jake Campbell had two hits -adding a single to his HR.
A great summer’s evening for baseball at Dodger Town.
This Saturday, our Div 1, 2, 3 & 8 teams are playing at HOME v ET while our other four senior teams (Div 4, 5, 6 & 7) will be playing @ ET.
On Friday, our WL Div 2 team will play at Home v Sturt. Our WL Div 3 Dodgers play @ Adelaide and our WL Div 3 GGCD @ West Torrens.
Sunday sees 4 x Junior Home games starting with our LL/1 v WT from 8:45am! Followed by our LL/2 Dodgers team v H&G.
Our JL/1 and SL teams will be playing WT.
Our JL/2 team has a BYE while our other four Junior teams are away. ML GGCD @ Port Adelaide and ML Dodgers @ Northern Districts.
LL/2 GGCD @ Adelaide and LL/2 Central Districts @ ET.
ARMCHAIR UMPIRE –– YOU MAKE THE CALL
Situation: Bases loaded, two outs, two strikes on the batter.
The next pitch, the batter swings and misses and the ball is not caught by the catcher and goes to the backstop.
CAN THE BATTER RUN TO FIRST?
JUNIOR / SENIOR TRAINING SESSION THURSDAY
Darren Roberts and the Div 1, 2, 3 squad will be holding our Jr/Sr training session on Thursday, 2 December 2021 from 6pm to 7:30pm.
Over 100 Junior players and 30 Div 1,2&3 squad players will be involved with this gala event on the Main Diamond.
There will be approximately six stations manned by the seniors showing the juniors how to field and play the infield and outfield.
A pitching and catching station is also offered, so bring along your catcher’s gear. The pitchers will throw to the catchers.
Each coach will move with their team from station to station. They will spend 10-15 minutes at each station.
After the training session a free sausage sizzle and soft drink will be provided to the players or enjoy a $5 Club Meal.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to train with our best.
A WELCOMED VISITOR JOINS DIV 4
Michael (Rooti) Sharp (the one with no hat in the photo 😊) came for a quick visit last weekend from his home in Queensland to
catch up with his sister, Heidi, and some of his past Div 1 teammates from over 20 years ago.
He enjoyed his visit catching up with his previous Div 1 teammates while here in Adelaide –
Dipper, Reed Brown, Joel Mazurek, Matt Burns and others.
Michael and Heidi were well known fixtures at our Club in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Their dad, Ray Sharp (RIP), was our Club President and Secretary during these early years of GGCD.
Last Sunday, Rooti joined in with our Div 4 team for a one off, to play against Southern Districts and winning 9-6.
With a special permit from the league, he was able to catch for his previous Div 1 pitcher, Brandon ‘Dipper’ Diplock. What fun!
He not only did a great job behind the dish, but he had two hits – one being a double!
